One of our famous Alumni was MLB player Jon Matlack. He was the 1968 NL Rookie of the Year and he was a 3 time all-star. Incredibly just 3 years after representing our legion program (then called West Chester), he was rookie of the year!
August 18, 1965 — Future major-league pitcher Jon Matlack takes a four-hitter into the final inning, but Emmaus, trailing 4-1, rallies for nine runs in the top of the ninth inning for a 10-5 win over West Chester in the American Legion state baseball tournament. Dick Schmoyer's tie-breaking two-run single was one of seven Emmaus hits in the rally that gives the Lehigh Valley League champions two wins on the opening day of the tournament.
